How to Set Your Initial Password

When you receive your welcome email message from Nancy Baker, it should look something like this:

Note this email message contains three essential pieces of information:

  1. Your username (it is not your email address, nor is it likely to be the same username as you might use on other websites)
  2. A link (the first blue line) that you must click on to create your initial password.
  3. A link (the second blue line) that you can use to go to the website in order to log in.

To create your initial password — one that you can remember and that is also reasonably secure — you click on the first (blue) link in the message, and it will take you to a web page that will look something like:

This page suggests a strong randomly created password, which you can use if you wish. However, it is difficult to remember these suggestions, so you probably will want to choose your own password. Here’s a web page that gives more advice on how to do that.

Once you have chosen your new password, enter that password in the New Password field, and click on the Reset Password button. This will cause the web page to change to something like this:

Login prompt

If you click on the Log in link (in blue), you should be taken to a web page that looks like this:

Login dialog

In this webpage, you enter your Username (the one you received in your initial email message) or your email address (the one you registered for Open Door), and the password you just set. If you click on the ‘Remember Me” box, the website will remember your login credentials for a while, at least, which saves you having to log in explicitly every time. Then click the “Log In”button and you will be taken to the Home/Front page of the blog.
